Am I eligible to take the MS-102 exam to earn the M365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification, even though my Messaging Administrator Associate certification has been retired?

My M365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate certification is no longer available for renewal, as both the certification and its renewal assessment were retired on 12/31/2003. Consequently, its status on my credentials now appears as Online Verifiable and Expired.

I earned this certification by passing the MS-203 exam. Since both this exam and the associated certification were retired last year, I would like to confirm if I can still take the MS-102 exam to achieve the M365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification.

I understand that if a retired exam is one of the requirements for a Certification that has not been retired, it can be used to fulfill the Certification requirements for up to one year after it retires, which in my case, can be used to fulfill until *Removed*.

So, I was looking for a verified answer before booking the MS-102 exam. I would appreciate any confirmation and assistance.

Hello CjBaladad!

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft’s Community.

As we understand, you need to confirm if the MS-203 Certification will count as a prerequisite after its retirement. We will be happy to assist you with your inquiry.

Yes, a retired prerequisite that is part of a major pathway that has not been retired still counts as valid for one year (or for the duration of its validity) after it has been retired. However, since the MS-203 Certification appears as expired on your Learn profile, it won't count because a prerequisite needs to be active.

In this case, you will need to pass one of the following prerequisites, along with the MS-102 Exam, to obtain the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert Certification:

-
Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate - Certifications | Microsoft Learn (MD-102)

- Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate - Certifications | Microsoft Learn (MS-700)

- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate - Certifications | Microsoft Learn (SC-300)

- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate - Certifications | Microsoft Learn (SC-400)

Please check the certification here: Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert - Certifications | Microsoft Learn

After fulfilling all the requirements, you will be able to see the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert Certification in your Learn profile by following these instructions:

Please visit Microsoft Learn.

  1. Sign in using the personal Microsoft account (MSA) associated with the Certification profile that you wish to keep, the account used to access the Microsoft Certification profile before.

  2. Go to Credentials on the left pane, then click on the Certifications tab and you will be able to see the certifications registered in your Learn profile.

After following these instructions, you will be able to use your Microsoft Learn profile to take more certifications and explore the new features and tools. You can also go to this article related to the features of your Learn profile: Manage your Microsoft Learn profile settings | Microsoft Learn

How to download your certification:

  1. To download, click “download” in the lower right on the “Certificates” icon.

  2. This will list the certificates that you have earned. Click the box next to the name of the certificate to select it.

  3. You can preview a single selected certificate, or you can download a .zip file with multiple certificates selected.

If you run into any trouble while following these steps, please let us know. We will be happy to help.

We hope that this information helps resolve your request. If so, please let us know by choosing "Yes" where it says, "Did this solve your problem?" located at the lower right corner of this post.

If we do not receive a response, the thread will be closed and locked after one business day.

Hi Victor,

Thank you for the response.

Since I have been preparing for the MS-102 exam, would it be an issue if I schedule and take it before completing another prerequisite exam?
