AZ-104 renewal

Dear Team,

I passed my AZ-104 exam two years ago. In the meantime, this exam has expired, and I did not renew it.

Last week I passed my AZ-305 where the AZ-104 is the prerequisite for the certification.

Since I cannot renew the AZ-104 for free, will I receive my badge/certificate for Azure Architect Expert (AZ-305) or do I need to pass the AZ-104 again from scratch?

One week passed since my exam, but I still have not received my badge/certification on Credly. I believe I cannot ask Microsoft to let me renew it online anymore, so I won't bother you with that question.

Please, let me know.

Many thanks,

Janko

Hi,

Yes, you will need to retake the AZ-104 exam to receive the architect certification.

Hi, Japa

Welcome to Microsoft's Community.

We understand you want to know the requirements to complete the Certification.

Please bear in mind that the Exam AZ-305: Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions is one of the two conditions, along with the Certificate Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.

Keep in mind that the AZ-305 Exam does not issue a Certification by itself.

Here is more information on how to achieve the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Remember that if your certification expires, you must earn the certification again by passing the required exam(s). For more information, visit our Credential expiration policies | Microsoft Learn

With that said, you need to complete the AZ-104 again in order to complete the prerequisites.

About the badge, please keep in mind that Microsoft ended their partnership with Credly on June 30. This means that the badging services provided by Credly no longer apply for most of Microsoft Certifications (excepting certificates obtained via Certiport). Our new scheme has changed from 'Badge sharing-based' to a 'Certification shared-based' scheme.

Your Microsoft Certifications on Credly will no longer be kept current or updated as you pass renewal exams or earn new Microsoft Certifications.

This being confirmed, our badges sharing article information has been updated with all of the necessary details regarding the new Microsoft Certification sharing experience:
