Certificate expired- late notification

I only got notified a month before one of my certifications expired and mistakenly assumed it was the usual 6 month warning- I missed the deadline by a couple of days. Do Microsoft have the ability to open the window again to allow me to recert rather than having to resit the full exam?

Hi, Alex

Welcome to Microsoft’s Community.

As we understand from your post, you have not completed assessments to renew your Certification, and you want to know if it is possible to renew the certification.

Keep in mind that our candidates are eligible to take their renewal assessment and extend the validity of their certification on Microsoft Learn within a 6-month period prior to their expiration dates. Once they are eligible to renew, they receive the notifications to the email account associated with their profiles.

Regarding the renewal process:

•           Candidates will not be able to take the renewal assessment before this period.

•           The learning path can be accessed at any time.

•           Candidates who do not pass the renewal assessment on the first try can immediately attempt the assessment again. However, after the second try, they will need to wait 24 hours before additional attempts.

•           The number of attempts is not limited, but the assessment must be passed prior to the certification expiration date, or the certification will no longer be valid.

Keep in mind that once a Certification expires, the candidates will not be able to take the renewal assessment and the Certification must be achieved again, by scheduling and passing the exam(s) required for it, as first-time earners would.

We hope this is useful to you, if there is anything else we can do for you, please do not hesitate to keep in contact with us. In case we do not receive a response, the thread will be closed and locked after one business day.

Hi Isabel,

Thank you for the response. In this case I was notified in quick succession about 2 certs expiring, however one was a six month warning and the other turned out to only be a months warning that a cert was going to expire. I accept that it is an oversight on my part, but given that I only received a months warning I wondered what could be done here to open this window back up given the notification was not as long as normal?

Cheers,

Alex

Hi, Alex

Hope you are doing well.

Please keep in mind that it is the candidate's responsibility to make sure to renew their certifications before they expire. Renewal notices are sent as a courtesy. It is important to mark notifications as safe and be aware of your certification expiration dates.

Responsibility for managing these dates lies with each certificate holder.
