Database Certifications

I did a search for all microsoft SQL Server certifications on your website and found seven certifications available.  Five of those seven certifications indicate that they retire on January 31, 2021.

These are the only two that seem to be continuing after January 31, 2021:

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  MTA: Database Fundamentals

The retiring certifications that I am referring to are these:

  MCSE: Data Management and Analytics

  MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration

  MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014

  MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development

  MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development

What will be the certifications that replace these five retiring certifications?  Where can I get information about the replacement certifications?

Thanks,

Answer

Hello Christian,

That is correct. All the certificates mentioned along with their required exams are scheduled to retire on January 31, 2021.

Role-based certification will not include the Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server 2019 certifications as the contents and technology will be included in role-based certifications on an as-needed basis for certain job roles in the Azure Apps & Infrastructure and Data & AI solution areas.

On the other hand, you may refer to image below for our recommended path for role-based certification in line with SQL technology.

For more information, you may visit Microsoft Blog for upcoming exams and certifications retirements.
