DP 600 Case Study issue with Pearson Vue Testing center.

I went to take my DP-600 today at a PV testing center. All was going well, I reached the part of the test where I had to answer Case Study questions, I received an alert that I would not be able to review the questions after I had answered them. I agreed, it asked me two questions, then sent me to the test results screen where I could finish my exam or review my answers. As any good test taker I reviewed the other 46 questions I had previously answered until time was up, using the Learn website to try to validate my answers. With one minute left I hit the Finish Test button only to be routed to an additional 9 questions. I had no time left and I was unable to answer these questions because I had less than a minute. Because of these unanswered questions I failed. What the mother loving F***!? What do I do now, I feel that MS and PV just robbed me because they screwed up the well known test format by 1: Breaking the test into separate "parts" and not accurately communicating the number of parts and total questions up front. In my review phase it said I had completed 48/48, but now my test was 48/56!?

Hi,

You are informed of the total amount of questions, the exam format, all the sections and the existence and location of case studies multiple times before and during the exam.

It is important to read the instructions in front of you carefully, so you don't miss anything important regarding your certification exam like this time.

Thank you, that's the point, I did read everything, until I told it I was finished with the test, that's when it added additional questions. Please don't bother responding with such vapid and useless responses. I came here to lodge a complaint, to see if the process could be reviewed and to make sure it doesn't happen to others. The test went from 48/48 to 48/56 after I clicked "Finish Test".

Hi,

You are trying to lodge a complaint that there you are not informed during the exam that there is a case study present. But that is simply incorrect, here are all the places before and during the exam where you can see this information:

This is the introductory screen:

This is the screen right after:

And this is the next one, still before you have started the exam:

And during the exam, here is where you can see all the questions that will be presented to you (this is a sandbox, so the case studies are grouped with the normal questions, in the real exam it is separate as you have experienced):

Well we made some progress.

1, That isn't the interface at an exam center, the screens are 1600x900 resolution and couldn't fit that much on a screen at a time. I wish they were that high quality.

2. I was aware of the Case Studies, I proceeded to the Case Studies, I acknowledged the screen that I wouldn't be able to review my answers for that section once I proceeded., and after I completed the Case Study I was sent to the Screen where I could Finish the Test OR Review the answers for the non-case study portion of the test. It was at this point the screen showed I had answered 48/48 questions and that I had flagged 20 or so for review. I proceeded to review those questions for the remaining test time. Once I finished reviewing them I returned to the same screen and went to Finish Test, at which point I was moved to a new section of the Exam which changed the number of questions to 56 (I was now at 48/56 according to the metric on the top of the screen). Since I only had 50 seconds left there was nothing I could do.

3. I am lodging a complaint that I was NOT properly informed during the test, and that the test scope changed after I was informed of the number of questions and case studies, that's the bug in the exam that I am trying to communicate.

Hi Jasper,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Community.

I acknowledge your concern about the discrepancy in the parts and total number of questions presented at the beginning of a Microsoft certification exam. I will provide further information to help clarify this matter for you.

Each question on a Microsoft Certification exam is rigorously reviewed by a panel of technical and job function experts to ensure its technical accuracy, clarity, and relevance.

@teriaavibes, I appreciate you sharing us with these information. As outlined in the Exam duration and exam experience | Microsoft Learn, to maintain the integrity of our certifications, we do not disclose specific exam formats or question types beforehand. However, our "exam sandbox" allows you to demo the role-based and fundamentals exam experience. This tool is designed to familiarize you with the exam environment, including interaction with various question types and the exam user interface. It also features introductory screens, instructions, help information, and the Microsoft Certification Exam Candidate Agreement. Utilizing the sandbox can enhance your preparedness for the actual exam by increasing your comfort with the user interface, navigation, response actions for different question types, and the location of exam details like time and questions remaining, as well as how to mark items for review and leave comments.

Meanwhile, if you wish to challenge the validity of a specific question on the exam, you may do so through the Exam item challenge process. This process is designed to identify and rectify any problematic questions.

Here are the criteria for submitting an Exam Item Challenge:

  • The exam must have been taken within the last 30 calendar days.

  • The challenge must be regarding a specific item on the exam.

Additionally, please follow these steps to challenge an exam:

  1. Review the criteria for accepting and not accepting an exam item challenge.

  2. Complete and submit the Exam item challenge form.

  3. Our Microsoft Certification team will review your submission for completeness. If any information is missing, you will be requested to provide additional details. Once your submission is complete, the Microsoft Certification team will conduct a thorough review, which typically takes about two weeks.

  4. Upon completion of the review, you will receive notification of the outcome.

I hope this information helps. If further assistance is needed, please feel free to ask. I am happy to help.

If this solves your problem, please indicate “Yes” to the question and the thread will automatically be closed and locked. In case we do not receive a response, the thread will be closed and locked after one business day. Please be advised that after the case is locked, we will no longer be able to respond. If the resolution provided did not resolve the issue, please post a new question.

Please stop with the "there is no war in Ba Sing Se". What is the means to report a bug in the exam software?

The above link doesn't work, it requires special access.

Here are the criteria for submitting an Exam Item Challenge:

  • The exam must have been taken within the last 30 calendar days.

  • The challenge must be regarding a specific item on the exam.

I'm not challenging an Item, I am trying to get assistance with a failure in the exam program, a bug, it might be a unique situation with a specific selection of questions, but until I can get through the riff raff such as yourself that blocks access to the actual support team responsible for fixing and handling bugs, my problem can't be resolved. The longer this takes, the less likely the logs can be gathered to find and fix the issue.

I hope this information helps. If further assistance is needed, please feel free to ask. I am happy to help.

This was completely unhelpful, and was reported for abuse and spam.

I want to be clear, I am not asking for you to "grant" me a certification, I've already paid and booked a retake, the purpose is to expose a bug in your test process that isn't working, and is likely affecting other test takers that you keep sweeping under the rug with your spam (if it's a canned response you've used before in other responses it is the definition of spam).

Hi Jasper,

I appreciate your prompt response.

I acknowledge the difficulties you've encountered with the exam software and the frustration it has caused. Addressing these issues swiftly is not only beneficial for your assistance but also vital for maintaining a fair and operational testing environment for all examinees.

We suggest that you review the FAQs, which indicate that once you leave a case study, you will not be able to review the questions associated with it. When you complete a case study and its associated questions, a review screen will appear. This screen allows you to review your answers and make changes before you move to the next case study, provided there is still remaining time.

To understand the number of minutes allocated for your examination, you may refer to the Exam duration and exam experience | Microsoft Learn.

We want to be as helpful as possible, so don't hesitate to contact us if you need anything more.
