Dynamics Certification Retirement and Replacement

Hi there,

I am planning to take some MS Dynamics certifications in the near future, but some of the requirements are just a little bit confused.

Since MCSA: Dynamics 365 will be retired the end of this month, does that mean if I want to take MCSE: Business Application, the only way is to pass MCSA: Dynamics 365 for Operations, and pass one required exam?

Also, since MB2-717 (required by MCSE: Business Application) will be replaced by MB-210, does that mean if I have passed one MCSA certification, then I can take MB210 to pass MCSE: Business Application?

And I just noticed that there is a new certification called Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Sales Functional Consultant Associate, the required exams are MB-200 and MB-210, so if I passed this certification, will I get the MCSE: Business Application certification directly?

Those are my questions. Since a lot of replacement and retirement will happen this month, and there are some overlaps between different certifications (Dynamics 365). I am just thinking about where to start, and what is that best path to get the MCSE: Business Application, should I start with getting MCSA: Dynamics 365 for Operations, or should I start with getting the new Microsoft Certified Associate.

Thanks for reading and answering the super long questions.

Hi kevinz94,

Let me provide clarity about our Dynamics certifications.

Indeed, since MCSA: Dynamics 365 will be retired the end of this month (June 30, 2019). Because of this, option to obtain the MCSE: Business Application is to earn its other pre-requisite MCSA: Dynamics 365 for Operations certification and to pass one elective exam on the list below:

-          Exam MB2-717 : Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales (retires 06/30/19)

-          Exam MB2-719: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Marketing (retires 08/31/19)

-          Exam MB6-895: Financial Management in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (retires 08/31/19)

-          Exam MB6-896: Distribution and Trade in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (retires 08/31/19)

-          Exam MB6-897: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail

-          Exam MB6-898: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent

-          Exam MB2-877: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Field Service (retires 06/30/19)

-          Exam MB2-718: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Service (retires 08/31/19)

Please note that there is no announcement yet for the updated exam requirements for this MCSE. You may visit the Learning Site from time to time or subscribed to MCP newsletter for notification.

Exam MB-717 is not a replacement for exam MB-210. While exam MB-210 counts toward the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Sales Functional Consultant Associate role-based certification Hence, passing both exams will not award you MCSE: Business Application certification.

Also, we have new Dynamic 365 certifications under the new Role-based certifications that you might want to consider.

Below is the list of New Role-based Microsoft Certified: dynamics 365 Fundamentals offered:

-          Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Fundamentals

-          Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Marketing Functional Consultant Associate

-          Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Field Service Functional Consultant Associate

-          Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Financials Functional Consultant Associate

-          Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Manufacturing Functional Consultant Associate
