How can I request an extension for a certification renewal due to an extreme personal situation?

I’m reaching out to ask if there’s any way I could be granted an extension for renewing my Azure Administrator Associate certification. My renewal window was from *removed*, and I unfortunately missed it. I understand that extensions are not typically offered, but I’m hoping my situation might warrant an exception.

My mother was diagnosed with a *removed* and was *removed*, which, as it turns out, was right when the renewal window opened. Things got progressively worse from there, and *removed*. As you can imagine, that time was extremely overwhelming, not just emotionally but also physically and logistically. *removed* through early *removed* was consumed by caregiving, hospital visits, and then the aftermath of her passing, managing arrangements, clearing her home, and taking care of everything she left behind.

I truly did not have the headspace or ability to focus on the renewal during that very specific window—so much so, I had no clue the deadline had even passed until today. That’s how out of touch I was.

I do have documentation if needed to confirm everything I’ve shared.


I hope it helps that it’s only been about *removed* days since the deadline passed, this wasn’t something I ignored long-term; it just slipped by during a very difficult window.

This certification is mandatory for my role at work, and retaking the full exam—on top of everything else—would just add more stress during a period when I’m still catching up. I’m simply asking for a little grace if possible.
