Is the exam MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator) still valid after 12 months?

We have a member of staff who passed the MS-102 exam in >removed<, but has not completed any of the pre-requisites for the Administrator Expert certification. They have not had the chance to renew this exam as I understand the renewal is only available with certifications. Is this exam still valid to help them achieve the certification even after 12 months or will it need to be retaken?

Thank you.

Yes, exams do not "expire", but if the requirements for the certification change then they would need to meet the new requirements, so I generally advise not to rely on the fact that they have the exam and to earn the certification

Hi, Noel.

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft community.

As we understand from your post, you would like to know if Exam MS-102 is still valid twelve months after its achievement date. We are happy to help!

Exams do not expire. They are valid while they are part of the requirements to achieve a Certification. Even if their corresponding Certification is retired, your passed Exams will always be listed on your Transcript.

By our expiration policy, passing an Exam is only required to earn a Certification for the first time, or to re-earn it after it has expired.

However, if an Exam is retired or replaced, it may no longer count towards the requirements to achieve its corresponding Certification. Due to this, we advise fulfilling the requirements to earn this Certificate at your earliest convenience.

For more information on Certification renewals, please visit the article: Microsoft Certification Renewal | Microsoft Learn.

We hope that you find this information to be helpful. If so, please let us know by selecting "Yes" where it says, "Did this solve your problem?" located at the lower right corner of this post.

If we do not receive a response, this thread will be closed and locked after one business day.
