mcsa-sql2016-business-intelligence-certification

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/mcsa-sql2016-business-intelligence-certification

I'm already a senior BI developer ready to get my retirement after 36 years in the IT business.

I want to start coaching my young nephew to get is mcsa-sql2016-business-intelligence-certification.

But I've seen that the Certification will be retired in January 2021.

Is that mean that my nephew won't be able to get mcsa-sql2016-business-intelligence-certification after January 2021 ?

If it's the case, to be able to coach him in ( Datawharousing, SSIS, SSAS Tabular MDX, SSRS, PowerBi. SQL Server Azure, T-SQL etc...) , what would the best replacement certification to get ?

Thanks,

Answer

Hi Bob,

Indeed, MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development certification is retiring on January 31, 2021.

Based on our available resources, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate is the recommended role-based certification that will replace the MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development.

However, if he was able to complete the requirements for MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development before the retirement date, the certificate will still be available on his Microsoft Certification profile because Microsoft certificates does not expire they only retired once their technology trend is out of date.

For any exams and certification updates please check our full blog post.
