Microsoft 365 Administrator Certification not showing up in portal.

I recently passed the Exam MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator, the test is in my transcript however the Certification still hasn't showed up.
I know this certification requires prerequisites in order to be awarded.

In the past, I completed both the Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate and Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate however both are expired.

Will I have to retake one of those tests in order to be awarded the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert Certification?

Dear Lookinforanswers101,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

Based on your query, we understand that you can't see the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification in your Learn profile after passing the MS-102 exam.

Please note that passing the MS-102 exam will only issue a certificate when one of the certification prerequisites is completed. To earn the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification, you'll need to complete the following requirements:

1. An exam: Exam MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator - Certifications | Microsoft Learn

2. Have one (1) of the following certifications active:

Note: The prerequisite certification must be active on your profile. If it is expired, this is considered the same as no longer having it, therefore, the certification path is incomplete.

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate

For more details, we invite you to review the Certification Prerequisites section at the link to the page below:

However, if you already have at least one of the certificates listed above active, please reply to this message and we will continue to assist you with the certificate you are missing.

Since your previous 2 certifications have expired, you will need to retake one of these exams above to meet the prerequisite.

Once you have an active associate-level certification and have passed Exam MS-102, your Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification should be awarded.

For more information about how to be certified, kindly refer to this page: Become Microsoft Certified

I hope this information could help address your concern, and if you have any further concerns, please feel free to come back to us at any time, we are always here to help you.

Wish you all the best,

Is this in the Microsoft documentation anywhere?
As far as I can find it says obtain or Earn I don't see where it is written that it must be "active"

Dear Lookinforanswers101,

Thanks for your reply and I'm glad to help.

The documentation does mention that you need to “earn” the prerequisite certification, the prerequisite certification must be active to make sure your new certification awarded.

However, maintaining an active status is generally implied, as certifications can expire and need to be renewed periodically. If your prerequisite certification has expired, it might be the reason why you face the situation here. To archive the certificate, you should have the exam MS-102 (as you already do), and any of the last certification. Make sure to fulfill the other requirement, which is obtaining any of the certifications we mentioned earlier. The order does not matter, as long as you have both prerequisites active, you will be able to achieve the certificate.

I'd like to invite you to review the similar thread as below:

MS-102 Certification not visible in Credentials - Training, Certification, and Program Support (microsoft.com)

Given that your previous certifications have expired, you might need to retake one of those exams to meet the prerequisite requirements for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification. Really appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

I hope this information could help address your concern, and if you have any further concerns, please feel free to come back to us at any time, we are always here to help you.

Wish you all the best,

Tanya Wang
