As part of the Admission Policy I just read that Microsoft requires you to show 2 ID's which must match the names you registered with exactly.
This is problematic:
- Only my government issue ID has my full names;
- My drivers license only has initials;
- My passport expired in May.
This made me think of the poor young people fresh out of school who won't even have a drivers license, never mind a passport.
As we have thousands of young people living in poverty in South Africa who will only possesses a single government issue ID, can Microsoft please relook this ridiculous practise?
Browsing through the Certification Profile questions it is clear that the Common name vs Legal name on registration is a massive headache (Yes, I was was one of them). Why not just use an ID number as the unique identifyer?
I'm sure with other techniques there must be better ways to verify a person? It is easier to open a bank account today than trying to change your profile name or for that matter show up with only one ID that reflects all your legal names..............
