Microsoft Certified Repair Technician

Hello, I work at a computer repair shop and are partnered with a school, which recently transitioned to using Microsoft products for their students.  Now they require that we are "Microsoft Certified Repair Technicians".  I looked through the available role-based certifications online and it appears that there isn't such a certification available.  I have contacted Microsoft support over the phone and the agent informed me that there was a "Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist" program in the past, but is no longer available.

Is there any way we can have a technician here become a certified repair technician, or have something to show to the school that we are able to repair Microsoft products (Surface laptops, etc)?

Hi compudirect3000 service,

Wishing you a blissful day.

Please be advised that you have reached the Microsoft Certifications Department which delivers assistance in certifications and exams benefits and requirements which can be found in this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/default.aspx.

Having checked our available resources the only MCTS certification that we offer which is already retired long time ago is the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist which proves the learners skills on a particular Microsoft technology, such as the Windows operating system, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, or Microsoft Visual Studio.

All certifications we offer are software based certifications.

Furthermore, the only available certifications that we currently have can be customized depending on the specified job role that you play at work. This can be accessed through the page below:

For these cases it might be possible to obtain hands-on experiences that you may write as part of your skills.

If this solves your problem, please indicate “Yes” to the question below, so that other learners can benefit, and please take our short survey to let us know if your support experience has been great or how we can improve.

Please confirm by selecting “Yes” within 2 business days, otherwise the thread will be automatically closed and locked. Please be aware that after the case was locked, we won’t be able to respond even on your private messages. If your concerns were not fully resolved, please post a new question so that we may proceed in assisting you.

Regards,
