permanent merge of (private) learning account and work account??

Hi,

i have associated my certifications (private learning account) with my work account through partner.microsoft.com (account settings --> my profile --> "your learning").
Then i have logged in with my private learning account on "https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/dashboard.aspx" to get a transcript for my boss.
On that site, i couldn't see any certifications and no transcripts (despite having successfully done an exam in >removed<).
Instead, on the "Certifications" page, i saw this:

I clicked "connect certification profile" and was presented with a popup showing me that my work profile and private profile were about to be merged.
On a side note, it said, this was PERMANENT and couldn't be reverted.
I continued anyway but got concerned as to what it means in that context?
On one hand you say i have to merge and it is permanent, and on the other hand you say my certifications belong to my private account. What is it then??

Also, even after that process, and having logged out and back in, i still see the "connect certification profile" screen on the "Certifications" page.
I want to know how exactly my private and work account are now "merged", why i can't see my certifications and transcripts on that page and what happens with my private learning account when i want to quit my job and go to another employer?

It's super frustrating having to deal with these ever-changing and confusing profile-/account mashup shenanigans, even as a professional :(

Answer

Hi, Stefan.

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft community.

As we understand from your post, you are having trouble accessing your Certificates through your Learning dashboard, as the "Certifications" tab only asks you to connect your Certification Profile. We are happy to help!

Please note that, as part of a recent update to our platform, all information available on your Dashboard has been transferred to Microsoft Learn. Due to this update, you must access your Certificates through your Learning dashboard.

To access your Certificates, please follow the steps below:

  1. Please visit Microsoft Learn.

  2. Sign in with the personal Microsoft account (MSA) associated with your Certification Profile.

  3. Click on your user icon, located at the upper right corner of the screen, and select "Profile."

  4. Select the option "Certifications" in the navigation menu, located at the left side of the screen.

  5. In case your Certification Profile is not connected yet, click the "Connect certification profile" button.

  6. To download your Certificates, select "View more details" under a Certificate, then click "Print certificate."

  7. To claim and share your Certification Badges, select "View more details" and then "Share."

  8. For Exam Badges, select "Share."

For more detailed information on this update, please visit the article: Moving from Learning to Microsoft Learn | Microsoft Docs.

As per the Microsoft Learn frequently asked questions (FAQs), merging your Learn profiles together will combine all your progress, achievements, and trophies from Learning Paths and Modules into a single Learn profile. This does not affect your Certification Profile.

We hope that you find this information to be of help. If so, please let us know by choosing "Yes" where it says, "Did this solve your problem?" located at the lower right corner of this post.

If we do not receive a response, this thread will be closed and locked after one business day.
