Question about obtaining MCSE: Data Management and Analytics

I have a question about obtaining the MCSE: Data Management and Analytics certification.

Currently I am in possession of both a MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 and a MCSA: BI Reporting certification.
However, the documentation on how to proceed from here seems contradictory:
The information on this page:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/learn/certifications/mcse-data-management-analytics
states that is will suffice to pass ONE of the elective exams (so passing just the 70-767: Implementing a Data Warehouse using SQL exam would grant me the MCSE), however, on the same page (under Certification details), it is also stated that THREE exams are needed; 70-464, 70-465 and 70-466.

Could anyone please inform me on the actual prerequisites for obtaining the MCSE certification?

Answer

Hi mcs1978,

Apologies if we misunderstood your query.

Yes. Since you have qualifying MCSA, you just need to pass one elective exam to earn the MCSE certificate. Passing 70-767 will qualify you for MCSE Data Management and Analytics.

After passing the last exam required for any certifications, please allow 24-48 hours for the new certification status to be updated on your transcript.

If this solves your problem, please indicate “Yes” to the question and the thread will automatically be closed and locked. In case we do not receive a response, the thread will be closed and locked after one business day. Please be advised that after the case is locked, we will no longer be able to respond, even through Private Messages.

All the best,
