Hello, I volunteer at an organization called Inclusive World, and our mission is to develop skills and abilities of the differently abled (specifically neurodiverse) individuals based on their interests and goals for the future. IW provides classes such as teaching skills such as programming, arts and crafts, as well as providing job experience to the participants. One of the classes IW offers is a course that teaches Microsoft Excel to the students.
This summer, I am part of a project that is developing/revising the curriculum so that we can teach the students in a way that they would be able to get certification in Microsoft Excel. Right now, we are researching how we can help our students specifically this certification, as it would be beneficial for them to have. I had a few questions regarding accommodations for our students.
Have there been other people with similar situations who have taken and successfully passed the exam?
As for specific accommodations, I remember reading that you might allow a scibe/reader to assist the candidate. Would you allow for candidates to have their parent in the room to help with things like reading? Or would it have to be someone else?
If anyone has any other information that you think may be helpful, please go ahead and share, thank you very much!
