I received a reference letter request for a former colleague who has applied to join Microsoft Research. I clicked on the verification link sent in this email, and when then directed to the Microsoft Recruiting References portal, I entered the email address to which the reference request had been sent. I checked back on this account and noted the verification code subsequently sent to me. I then returned to the recruiting Portal, typed in this code, and straightway got the message that the email address I entered was not the one specified in the reference and verification requests! I've been through the whole process several times but always with the same result. Please advise.
