Student discount email domain

We have a group of students that will be taking the DP-203 exam. We know that students need register themselves for this exam, but we’ve run into an issue with the discount; the discount is associated with the faculty/staff email domain ucmail.uc.edu, but the University of Cincinnati student email domain is mail.uc.edu. Therefore, when they enter their email, the get a message stating that no discounts are available for this email address.

We are looking at https://home.pearsonvue.com/microsoft

  • Certification Exam section > Explore exams

  • Search “DP-203”

  • Click on ‘Schedule exam”

  • Login with any applicable Microsoft account (if not can create one with a Gmail)

  • Create/edit profile if needed

  • Click ‘Next’

  • Enter uc email and search for discount – this is where the issue is. UC student emails have the mail.uc.edu domain, not ucmail.uc.edu (which is reserved for faculty and staff)

I have been told by Pearson reps that this is a Microsoft issue. Is someone able to help make sure the student email domain mail.uc.edu is eligible for the student discount?

Hi malonemu,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Community.

I appreciate the interest in taking the DP-203 exam with student discount. Allow me to provide information on how to avail the academic pricing discount.

In order to avail the student discount, you may need to identify yourself as a student first, and once you have verified yourself as a student, you are entitled an academic pricing which offers 30% for Fundamentals exam and 45% for All Role Base Exam (except India and China).

Keep in mind that the academic discount will be automatically applied at the checkout page and you no longer need to enter your school email at the “discount” page.

To verify your student status, please follow the step-by-step instruction below:

  1. Visit Get verified now (microsoft.com) instead of logging in through Microsoft Certification.

  1. Sign in with the same MSA which will be used for signing into Microsoft Certification portal.

  1. On your Learning profile, select “Edit profile” button and ensure that all the required fields marked with an asterisk (*) in your profile page are correctly filled and remove any special characters (like., \! @ # etc.,). Once done, please click the save and continue button.

  1. After these steps, follow the verification process

  1. If you click the “I have a school email account” and there is an error, you should try clicking the “I can supply documentation” and upload your acceptable documentation like student ID, current progress report, current dated class schedule, or acceptance letter to the school of higher education.

  2. The verification process will take up to 3-5 days.

  3. Once the congratulations message is shown or once the verification is successful, then visit the Certification portal and check if the profile changes to student/ academic one.

Should the students need additional assistance, please ask them to post a new question, for immediate assistance as we require some private information for each individuals.

I look forward to your response. Please note that if no response is received after two business days, the case will be closed and locked. After the case is locked, we will no longer be able to respond, even through Private Messages.
