Why Defender for Cloud q's in the Azure Security Technologies Exam?

Well I just sat the Azure Security Technologies (AZ-500) exam and failed with a score of 637. There were a few things that stood out. 1) There were questions on Defender for Cloud which I had no clue about. The exam is about Azure, not Defender for Cloud. - 2) Not being in a specific engineering role hasn't helped me either and this wasnt made clear before signed up. Based on the questions i answered today, I'm not sure anybody who isnt in a engineer role would pass it, irrespective of how hard they worked on the Q Bank.

Hi,

I recommend following the study guide when studying for an exam as it details all topics being asked. If you look at it (Study guide for Exam AZ-500: Microsoft Azure Security Technologies | Microsoft Learn) you can see that Defender for Cloud is mentioned 36 times on the page and serves as the primary security solutions for Azure.

You can also see Defender for Cloud included in the official learning path for this exam AZ-500: Manage security operation - Training | Microsoft Learn

If you believe that azure security engineers don't need to know or know how to work with the primary security product that Microsoft Azure offers, I recommend suggesting it to the exam team.

I wonder how I can request sitting the previous version of AZ-500. Maybe i should have scheduled to sit a day before the exam content changed.

- I originally booked this in January 2023 with quite a few subsequent cancellations culminating sitting it on 27/8. None of my revision material contained Entra or Defender for Cloud. I do feel there should be a matching between when you booked to take the exam and the actual exam you sit. Pretty unfair otherwise, unless of course you/re saying Defender for Cloud and Entra were both in the exam back in January?

Hi,

Microsoft Defender for Cloud (previously known as Azure Security Center) and Entra (previously known as Azure Active Directory) have been in the exam as long as I can remember. They are both critical security and identity products for Azure. I found that Azure Security Center has been released in 2015 and Azure Active Directory has been released when Azure released around 2008.
