Why is Microsoft Retiring C# and ASP.Net Core Certifications

Why is Microsoft retiring C# and ASP.Net Core exams 70-486 and others.

I do understand Microsoft is moving towards Role Based Certification. However, none of the Role Based Developer Certification has any mention of .Net Core or C#.

I would like to go with the latest technologies and courses related to .Net Core and C# and need to know which role based certifications i should be applying to instead of giving exams for the certifications that are expiring.

Would really appreciate your guidance and directions on this.

Regards,

Farid [removed].

Hi faridcharaniya,

Good day.

Since we announced our focus on role-based training and certifications in September 2018, we’ve added a total of 34 certifications to our portfolio across Azure, Modern Workplace, and Business Applications. As we continue to expand on role-based learning offerings, all remaining exams associated with Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) will retire on June 30, 2020.

This can be your reference to retired certifications.

In addition, please click the picture below for your guidance of what would be the latest technologies and courses related to .Net Core and C# that you can review for your future certifications related to web development platform.

Be sure to visit Microsoft Learn to discover all the information you need to know about the role-based  certification that best matches your career aspirations. On Microsoft Learn, you’ll find information on free self-paced online training and/or with classroom training available, through Microsoft Learning Partners, to help you prepare for certification.
