Becoming an MCT with MOS certifications in 2023: is it possible?

Hello There,

I want to become an MCT on Office products but I'm not sure if this is possible.

Indeed, on the dedicated page: https://learn.microsoft.com/fr-fr/certifications/mct-certification, I read, about MOS certifications:

Only renewing MCTs will have access to the MOS certs. [Beginning April 1, 2022, the Microsoft Office Specialist certification is no longer accepted for new MCTs entering the program. The certification will be accepted for renewing MCTs who entered the program prior to March 31, 2022.]

1. So that I understand correctly, is it possible today to become an MCT with one or more of the following certifications?

- Word Associate (Office 2019)

- Excel Associate (Office 2019)

- PowerPoint Associate (Office 2019)

- Outlook Associate (Office 2019)

- Word Expert (Office 2019)

- Excel Expert (Office 2019)

- Access Expert (Office 2019)

2. If this is possible, how long will it be?

3. If this is no longer possible, how does Microsoft want to promote its Office products (Microsoft 365 excluded) other than through MCTs in a professional training setting?

I thank you.

Best regards,

Hello Arnaud,

I appreciate your response. Please see further clarification on your questions below:

1. Today, I cannot apply for MCT if I earn one or more of the following Microsoft Certifications (MOS). Is that correct?

- You are correct. It is no longer possible to apply for MCT if you will use MOS certifications.

2. Let's say 1. is correct. Now, if I want to be an expert trainer on Microsoft Office products (Microsoft 365 excluded), which currently eligible Microsoft Certifications should I earn to apply for MCT?

- Currently, Microsoft do not provide any courses for Microsoft Office products hence, all Current eligible Microsoft Certifications and qualifications for the MCT program are only for trainers who would like to become an expert trainer for technical and developer products.

3. If 2. is not possible, how to apply for MCT on Microsoft Office products?

- Same as my response on your 2nd question.

4.If it is not possible to become an MCT on Microsoft Office products any more, I guess it is possible to do so on Microsoft 365 products. If that is correct, which currently eligible Microsoft Certifications should I earn to apply for MCT on Microsoft 365 products?

- Please see below the list of the available Microsoft 365 certifications (Note that each certifications have specific products applicable, you may check each links to identify which would you need to obtain related to your needs) eligible to become an MCT:

While this is true, I strongly suggest you to directly contact our MCT Program Team for feedback and further clarifications on your queries above. I'm sure they will be able to provide you with other alternatives not mentioned on my response above specifically if you really want to teach Office products through trainers who can't use MOS certifications.
