Entry requirements for MCT

Hi there,

I am from the UK and have been delivering IT training programmes for the last 5 years.  I have no formal Microsoft based qualifications but i have been delivering some City and Guilds, CISCO and CIW qualifications in the past which have all included content for Microsoft Windows 7/10 and Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012.  I am also a qualified teacher in the UK and hold a valid CIW instructor qualification to deliver some of their courses and hold a degree.  Do you know if any fast track courses are available or would i need to complete the relevant Microsoft Based exam first?

None of my qualifications seem to be on the exemption list as am i right thinking only Microsoft Based qualifications allow you to then teach the relevant subject you hold certification in?  Will i be able to apply for the trainer program without holding a Microsoft based qualification or will i need to complete the qualification i wish to teach first?

Also how much is the cost for the MCT programme if i do undertake a Microsoft based exam?

Mark

Answer

Hello Mark,

We appreciate your interest in becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer. According to the program guidelines, you should complete the 2 requirements to become an MCT. Based on the information that you have provided I can see that you have indeed met the second requirement for the program. Please check the information below:

The MCT requirements are as follows:

  1. Possess a current Microsoft Certification or qualification eligible for the MCT program
  2. Demonstrate instructional skills verified by one of the following:
    1. Instructional Skills certification
    2. Provide reference supporting at least one year of instructional experience.

The annual fee for the MCT program for new application depends on the Membership type. For IT Pro/Developer the cost is £565 and the cost for Office is £280. Please note that Microsoft charges any applicable taxes for your country, in addition to the program fee.
