I did a Azure certification in the past. It was not renewed, therefore it expired. Now I cannot find any mention in the profile that I ever did the certification. Is this normal behavior?

Hi, Philipp.
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft community.
As we understand from your post, you would like to know if it is normal for a Certification to disappear from your Learn profile after it has expired. We are happy to help!
By design, when a Certification expires, it will no longer be valid. In case it is part of the prerequisites to achieve a higher-level Certificate, it will not count towards them unless it is re-activated by passing its corresponding Exam again.
However, expired Certifications should be listed in the "Certifications" section of your Learn profile, found by selecting "Credentials" in the navigation menu located at the left side of the screen. They will have a red banner stating that they are expired.
Expired Certifications will also be moved from the "Active Certifications" section to the "Certification History" section of your Transcript.
In case one of your expired Certificates is missing from your Learn profile and Transcript, please let us know. We will be happy to help.
For more information on Certification renewals, please visit the article: Renew your Microsoft Certification - FAQ | Microsoft Learn.
We hope that this information helps resolve your concern. If so, please let us know by choosing "Yes" where it says, "Did this solve your problem?" located in the bottom right corner of this post.
If we do not receive a response, the case will be closed and locked after one business day.
