General | Other: No MS Learn during AZ500 from Pearson Vue

I have read in numerous locations you're allowed to take the AZ500 with MS-Learn open as a "open book" type of test. However, I took the AZ500 and wasn't even given the option for that and was even told to remove my 1 page of notes off the desk (which I learned was inaccurate, I was under the impression we could have a page of notes on the desk but we aren't) before the test even started.

Has anyone else experienced issues with pearson vue not allowing MS-Learn to be open?

Hi Marc,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Community.

I admire your dedication and effort to seeking assistance with the exam as I understand the importance of knowing the features as you for your AZ-500 exam.. Allow me to provide you with options and recommendations for your concern.

If you are pertaining into the open-book features on examinations, lease know that these resource are only available for role-based exams as AZ-500 is a role-based exam it is considered to be included.

This resource is intended to be used for those questions that describe problems where you may need to look something up on Microsoft Learn. It is not something you should be leveraging to answer every question. If you do, you won’t be able to complete the exam in the time allotted, and that is by design.

Here's what you need to know about this resource:

  • You will have access to everything in the learn.microsoft.com domain except Q&A, Practice Assessments, and your profile.

  • Extra time has not been added.

  • The exam timer will continue as you explore Microsoft Learn content.

  • This resource is only available on role-based exams, not fundamentals or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams.

  • This resource will be available in the same languages in which the exam is available.

To use this resource during your exam, you will select the Microsoft Learn button available on the left navigation pane. This will open Microsoft Learn in a split screen to the right of the exam question. You can then navigate through the website as you normally would and expand it to full screen if you prefer.

For reference and guide you may refer to these Exam duration and exam experience | Microsoft Learn document.

Moreover, for immediate assistance we recommend our test takers to contact Pearson VUE support directly as they have the tools to modify your exam, and can investigate what happened to provide options available for you.

I hope this information helps, should you need further assistance please feel free to let us know and I'll be happy to assist.

I look forward to your response. Please note that if no response is received after two business days, the case will be closed and locked. After the case is locked, we will no longer be able to respond. Thank you.

Microsoft exams are not "open book" in the traditional sense. You are not allowed to bring your own notes and paper in forbidden,

However, role-based exams permit online access to Microsoft Learn documentation and training content.

You access Learn through the L shaped button in the left navigation pane.
