Question regarding chinese legal name in English letter

Hi, suppose that my legal name shown in passport is [ Aaaa Bbbb Cccc ], which [ Aaaa ] is my last/surname and [ Bbbb Cccc ] is my first/given name.

However, because there's no option for me to change the naming format by last name first and given name in the end, if I input my first name and last name according to the format as Microsoft provided, the name shown on the certification will become [ Bbbb Cccc Aaaa ], which is different with the name of my legal document.

Therefore, is it okay if I input my surname [ Aaaa ] in the first name box, and given name [ Bbbb Cccc ] in the surname box such that the name on the cert. will be exactly same with my name on legal document?

Answer

Hi AdrianChee,

Good question!

That is correct. Your profile name should exactly match according to what is in your legal document.

In this case, the arrangement of your name wouldn’t matter for as long as the format of your name is indicated on your legal document. Meaning, [ Aaaa Bbbb Cccc ] should be indicated as Last name, First/Given name.
