Uploading an old MCP Certificate to the new Learn portal.

Hello,

I have a completed MCP Certification from May.2006. But how to add this to the new Learn account? The certification does not show up under my transcripts section automatically, and there is no way to upload the document or add my MCP ID to the Learn portal.

Please help.

Thanks.

Hello Anish

Welcome to Microsoft’s Community.

We understand that you need to add an old Certificate to your current Learn Profile.

Due to the updates that have been implemented to the Learn platform over the course of the past few days, and the improvements in our security processes, our support team is no longer able to verify or update any Microsoft Accounts associated with your Certification Profile.

This is because, since July 8, 2024, our platform has undergone significant changes: Keeping Certification and Learn Profiles is no longer required, as the Certification Profiles have moved to MS Learn. For this reason, properties such as MCID or Certification Profile are no longer in use. Instead, the certification progress from our candidates will be contained directly on their Learn profiles.

Please refer to the following Forum page for further reference: https://trainingsupport.microsoft.com/en-us/mcp/forum/all/new-updated-microsoft-learn-exam-registration/c39d5e07-d58b-416b-ba51-aacafdcc4b08

Additionally, previous services  related with Certification profiles, such as profiles merging are now self-assisted by users. For further information, we recommend reviewing the Profile and Credentials tabs from the following page (reference image below):

Hello Beatriz,

How then do you propose I validate to potential employers my MCP certification at this point. From what you have described I don't see a way forward.

Microsoft can't ignore what it initially validated, (in the past), essentially telling me to throw my MCP certificate in the garbage, simply because it changed it's process and retention ways.

Is there not a way to validate my certificate through some other process to employers, or are you telling me I've wasted my time & skills learning Microsoft software development?

Not a happy camper,

Anish

Hello Anish

We hope you are having a good day so far.

Please know that due to security policies we are not authorized to retrieve or verify your account, in this case to retrieve your certificate we suggest trying to log in to Microsoft Learn from all the email addresses you may have used in the past. This way, you could locate the profile containing the certificate.

Please visit the following link: Microsoft Learn frequently asked questions (FAQs) | Microsoft Learn with further details and information regarding your Learn accounts.

Thank you for your understanding.

If no reply is received within the next business day, we will proceed to close and lock this case.

Warm regards,

Hello Beatriz,

Hope you are doing well. 😎

Thanks for communicating.

I logged into an old, old, MS account and found my 2006 transcript, as shown below. However, I would like to transfer the transcript to a new email address. I know I can link an email, but the system only allows for one, (1), personal email. Only a school or work account can be linked, and I don't want that.

Is there a process in which I can transfer the below 2006 MCP to port it over to a new personal email of mine, and then delete it from this profile?

Hello Anish.

We understand that managing multiple profiles can be challenging, and we appreciate your effort to streamline your Microsoft Learn experience. We have received your request to merge your Microsoft Learn profiles. However, due to improvements to our security processes, we cannot merge two Learn Profiles that are associated with two different personal email accounts, or MSAs.

That being said, we are unable to directly assist you with the merge process due to security policies. Instead, we can provide you with a short guide in which you can self-manage this process on your end.

First, allow us to share the following document: Microsoft Learn frequently asked questions (FAQs) | Microsoft Learn

Can I merge two profiles of mine into one?

Yes! Assume you have profile A and profile B, you're able to merge your completions and achievements of profile B into profile A by clicking "add account" on the profile settings page when signed into Profile A. After you merge accounts, only profile A will exist as both profiles learning history will be combined. The merging logic is as following:

  • Your learning history, certification data, and achievements are merged, with duplicates removed, from profile B into profile A.

  • Your Q&A contributions and activities are merged, with duplicates removed, from profile B into profile A.

  • Your linked accounts are merged from profile B into profile A. Note: if the limit of "up to five school or work accounts and one personal account" is exceeded during the merge process, your merge request will be canceled. If this happens, you'll need to resolve this issue before trying again.

  • Your saved items and joined challenges will be merged, with duplicates removed, from profile B into profile A.

  • Private profile mode will be enabled if any of the two profiles has this setting turned on.

  • All other settings will remain unchanged in profile A and editable on profile settings page anytime.

Have in mind that you cannot merge two Learn profiles that are associated each to a different personal MSA. The following profile merge options can be done by connecting the two accounts in the Account Management section of Learn Settings:

  1. Merge a Learn profile containing a work or school account (AAD/Entra) with a second profile containing a personal email (MSA).

  2. Merge a Learn profile containing a work or school account (AAD/Entra) with a second profile containing a work or school account (MSA).

If both accounts are personal and considering that you can have up to five school or work accounts and only one personal account linked to your Microsoft Learn profile, you could try adding a work/school account to one of the Profiles > Deleting the personal MSA > Merging the remaining Profiles.

If you have a work or school (AAD) account associated with your Learn profile:

  1. Please visit Microsoft Learn.

  2. Sign in using your work or school account (AAD).

  3. Click on your user icon, located at the upper right corner of the screen. and select "Settings."

  4. Under the "Account management" section, remove your personal Microsoft account (MSA).

  5. After removing your personal account, click "Add account" and sign in using your desired Microsoft account (MSA).

If you do not have a work or school (AAD) account associated with your Learn profile:

  1. Please visit Microsoft Learn.

  2. Sign in with your current personal Microsoft account (MSA).

  3. Click on your user icon, located at the upper right corner of the screen, and select "Settings."

  4. Under the "Account management" section, select "Add account."

  5. Sign in using your work or school account (AAD) to add it to your Learn profile.

  6. Sign out of Microsoft Learn.

  7. Sign into Microsoft Learn using your work or school account (AAD).

  8. Return to the "Account management" section to remove your personal Microsoft account (MSA).

  9. After removing your personal account, click "Add account" and sign in using your desired personal Microsoft account (MSA).

By design, your Learn profile can only be associated with one personal Microsoft account (MSA) and up to five work or school accounts (AAD) at a time. This means that, to remove your personal account, you must first add a work account to your profile.

We hope this information is clear and helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
